Premier League: Wolves Looking to Add on to Tottenham’s Agony

Tottenham vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

Two straight losses may have dampened Tottenham’s confidence, but they have a chance to redeem themselves as they host the Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday for their next Premier League match.

After winning a close one against Aston Villa last week, the Lilywhites suffered back-breaking losses against RB Leipzig in the Champions League and versus Chelsea two days later.

A top-four spot, however, is still within reach as they have  40 points at the table. They aren’t far behind from the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United who have 44 and 41 points respectively.

Meanwhile, the Wolves are also within striking distance at 39 points and they are aiming to string a couple of wins in order to boost their Premier League 2020 odds of another Europa League spot for the next term.

Tottenham have gotten the better of the Wolves in their last few encounters, but it will be much harder to do it again this time since the Wolves are riding high with confidence.

As always, SBOBET is here to offer you our preview of this weekend’s fixture.

Talking Points

Tottenham are thin up front

Jose Mourinho is worried that his side is on the brink of falling off a top five finish in the Premier League
Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho is looking concerned

The Spurs have had their share of injuries this season, which is probably giving Jose Mourinho a lot of sleepless nights.

Two of their top scorers in Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min are expected to be out for a considerable amount of time due to injuries. Harry Kane is experiencing a hamstring issue while Son Heung-Min broke his right arm during their match versus Aston Villa. The two have accounted for 33 goals and 10 assists for this term.

It doesn’t help either when their third top scorer in Dele Alli is on the bad side of our Premier League 2020 news. The 23-year-old midfielder was recently charged by the Football Association (FA) for misconduct after making fun of the coronavirus issue in his personal Snapchat account.

That leaves Mourinho with no viable option especially since the transfer window has already been closed.

He may decide to throw in 18-year-old Troy Parrott already into the starting lineup but his readiness and maturity still remains in question. Mourinho is said to be over protective of his young star.

That leaves the likes of Lucas Moura, Steven Bergwijn, Erik Lamela to have to step up their games. The three would have to go out of their comfort zones as they would be thrust into playing more advanced roles moving forward.

Despite all of this, pundits shouldn’t count out the Spurs just yet. Their next four games are to be played at home which should give them some sort of advantage.

Wolves come in with a renewed confidence

While Jose Mourinho’s men had a week to prepare for this match, the same can’t be said for the Wolves, who just came off from their Europa League stint.

The Wolves are moving on to the Round of 16 of the competition when they defeated La Liga’s Espanyol, and that should give them a huge boost of confidence ahead of this fixture.

“It is exciting. It’s massive,” said Nuno Espirito Santo on their stint in the Europa League. “I’m very proud with the way the players have been working and dedicating themselves. It’s massive for the club but we want to keep going.”

The Wolves have been a pleasant surprise so far this season. Standing at the eighth spot, Nuno Espirito Santo’s men have been performing beyond expectations and they have a bright future in front of them.

Raul Jimenez, Diogo Jota, and Adama Traore have been dangerous for their opponents as they’ve recorded 32 of their 38 goals along with 15 assists. They’ve added another key piece to the puzzle recently when they signed Daniel Podence from Olympiacos.

Podence is a versatile player that can play on either wing. The Portuguese national has shown great chemistry with his teammates already and there’s no doubt that he will be a bright spot for the Wolves.

History

The Spurs have lost just once against the Wolves in their last seven Premier League matches. The last time that they lost was last term when the Wolves dominated on the road with a 3-1 victory.

The Wolves have tallied three straight clean sheets for the month of February so far.

Since Jose Mourinho took charge, Tottenham have recorded 26 points. Only Liverpool (45) and Manchester City (32) had more during that time span.

Tottenham will look to get their third straight Premier League win at home for the first time since April 2019.

Betting Tip

??
Tottenham vs Wolverhampton Wanderers Total Goal 2-3 @1.92
February 28, 22:00 (GMT+8)

It’s hard to say on who will win this match as they’re fairly even in the 1×2 market. Tottenham are placed at 2.53 while the Wolves are at 2.96. A drawn match also looks to be a good bet as it is pegged at 2.97.

But given their recent history, this looks to be a high-scoring match where at least two goals are to be scored, so Total Goal 2-3 is a great proposition.

Two grizzled veteran managers in Nuno Espirito Santo and the great Jose Mourinho will figure in a chess match, and it will be interesting to see on how it will all unfold come Sunday.

A SHORT EXPLANATION ON HOW OUR (??) BETS ARE WORTH:
?? = €20 (Highly confident) ?? = €10 (CONFIDENT) ?? = €5 (SOMEWHAT CONFIDENT)
