Carmelo Anthony churned out a vintage game after returning the league last week as he towed the Blazers to a much-needed victory. Meanwhile, the Lakers and the Bucks notched their eighth straight victory.

Brooklyn Nets 108-106 Cleveland Cavaliers
The Brooklyn Nets have improved to 5-1 in games without Kyrie Irving, as Spencer Dinwiddie continues to shine for the team.
The 26-year-old combo guard knocked down a game-winning fadeaway that gave the Nets the lead for good with 1.9 seconds remaining. Spencer Dinwiddie scored 23 points hours after he was named the Eastern Conference Player of the Week, while Jarrett Allen poured in 22 points and 21 rebounds.
Jordan Clarkson churned out 23 points for the Cavaliers, who have lost seven of eight.
Detroit Pistons 103-88 Orlando Magic
The Detroit Pistons used a strong run in the third period as they dispatched the Orlando Magic in their home floor.
They held Orlando to only 15 points in the said period, including an 11-0 run to gain an eight-point lead coming into the final frame. The Magic have sunk to 0-7 in road games this season.
Luke Kennard topscored for Detroit with 20 points while Andre Drummond supplied seven points and 18 rebounds.
Orlando were still missing the services of Nikola Vucevic and Aaron Gordon. Terrence Ross came off the bench and poured in 19 points.
Indiana Pacers 126-114 Memphis Grizzlies
Buoyed by his efficient shooting, TJ Warren propelled the Indiana Pacers to a win by producing their highest scoring output this season. The former lottery pick contributed 26 points on 11-of-15 shooting.
Indiana shot extremely well from distance by knocking down 55-per cent of their attempts (18-of-33), which is their season high and one shy of the franchise record.
On the defencive end, Myles Turner swatted a season-high five shots – the most by a Pacers player in a single game this campaign.
Jaren Jackson Jr. scored 28 and Ja Morant contributed 19 in the losing effort.
Minnesota Timberwolves 125-113 Atlanta Hawks
Head coach Ryan Saunders’ move of putting Jeff Teague out of the starting five paid dividends as their bench production has dramatically increased.
Their reserves provided a huge boost on offence by scoring 46 points in their win against the Atlanta Hawks.
Teague had eight points and eight assists, while Keita Bates-Diop and Gorgui Dieng scored 13 apiece to lead the bench mob.
Karl Anthony-Towns led the Wolves with 28 markers while Trae Young chipped in 37 points and nine assists for the Hawks.
Boston Celtics 103-102 Sacramento Kings
The Celtics were once again tested in the clutch by the Kings. But this time, they were the ones coming away with a one-point victory.
Sacramento were threatening to steal another game from the C’s when Bogdan Bogdanovic canned a three-pointer. Marcus Smart responded with a twisting shot of his own with 31 seconds left to push the home team ahead by a point.
In their first meeting last week, Smart drove to the lane and had his layup missed at the buzzer snapping their 10-game winning streak.
Jaylen Brown scored 24 points for the home team while Buddy Hield produced 41 points, including 11 threes.
Miami Heat 117-100 Charlotte Hornets
Bam Adebayo powered the Heat to their seventh straight home win by notching his ninth double-double this season.
The former Kentucky wildcat scored 21 points and grabbed 13 rebounds, and he was supported by Jimmy Butler who scored 21.
Terry Rozier scored 19 points for the Hornets, who dropped their fifth straight game.
Toronto Raptors 101-96 Philadelphia 76ers
Joel Embiid had another night to forget in Toronto as he was held scoreless in their loss on Monday night.
The slotman missed all of his 11 attempts on the floor and turned the ball over four times after being guarded heavily by the defending champions.
Pascal Siakam was clutch on both ends as they rallied back from a six-point deficit. He finished with 25 points and seven rebounds.
Josh Richardson picked up the scoring for Philly with 25 points.
Portland Trail Blazers 117-94 Chicago Bulls
Carmelo Anthony proved to the world that he’s capable of churning out a winning performance, as he led the Blazers to a win against the Chicago Bulls.
The 10-time All-Star scored 25 points on 50-per cent shooting from the field, including a strong baseline dunk that should make it to our best NBA 2019 highlights.
It was a huge sigh of relief for the Blazers as they snapped their four-game skid.
Milwaukee Bucks 122-118 Utah Jazz
Giannis Antetokounmpo has boosted his NBA 2019 odds of winning the MVP award with his 50-point performance against Utah.
He also grabbed 14 rebounds in the process as he helped the Bucks rally past the Jazz for their eighth consecutive win.
Bojan Bogdanovic and Donovan Mitchell chipped in 24 and 20 for the Jazz, but they came up short late in the final moments.
Los Angeles Lakers 114-104 San Antonio Spurs
The Lakers banked on their star duo of LeBron James and Anthony Davis to extend their winning streak to eight games beating the Spurs.
James notched 33 points and Davis added 19 points and 12 rebounds, which included some big plays on both ends to pull away in the final period.
LaMarcus Aldridge and DeMar DeRozan combined for 54 points, but their output wasn’t enough to fend off the road team.
Oklahoma City Thunder 100-97 Golden State Warriors
Chris Paul knocked down a huge midrange jumper with 36 seconds left to help Oklahoma City upend Golden State.
Despite his early shooting struggles, Paul ended up with 20 points while grabbing seven rebounds and five assists. He was backstopped by Dennis Schroder who scored 22.
Glenn Robinson and Ky Bowman led the Warriors with 25 and 24 points as they continue to deal with a myriad of injuries to their star players.
