NBA All-Star Game 2018: Team Stephen vs Team LeBron

It’s the NBA All-Star weekend, which means we’ll get to see the best basketball players on the planet play it out in an exhibition game that is expected to keep betting websites busy.

The league changed its All-Star Game format this year in hopes of improving the competition. They put an end to the usual East-versus-West matchup in favour of rosters drafted by All-Star captains LeBron James and Stephen Curry.

It remains to be seen if it will live up to expectations of sports betting fans, but there’s no doubt the online gambling community is already excited to see the new version of the All-Star weekend’s main event in LA.

Team Steph and Team LeBron appear to be evenly matched, but the latter won’t fancy their chances after a slew of injuries to their big men.

LeBron’s squad lost their size advantage after DeMarcus Cousin, Kevin Love and Kristaps Porzingis got injured. And it didn’t help that NBA Commissioner Adam Silver replaced them with Paul George, Goran Dragic and Kemba Walker—a small forward and two point guards.

They did get a new big man in Andre Drummond, who replaced John Wall. Nonetheless, the lost in size is clear.

In contrast, Team Steph is fully healthy. They also boast top-notch firepower with the backcourt pairing of Steph Curry and James Harden.

Meanwhile, their frontcourt features Giannis Antetokounmpo and first-time All-Star Joel Embiid, with the likes of Karl-Anthony Towns, Al Horford and Draymond Green ready to come off the bench.

While the annual showcase will undoubtedly be interesting, fans should also watch out for other intriguing storylines.

LeBron and former Cavs’ running mate Kyrie Irving will reunite in the game, and all eyes will be on them as fans hope they would share a highlight moment just like what Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook did in the 2017 instalment of the affair.

The league also increased the cash prize for the winners to encourage the participants to exert a little more effort. Members of the winning team will receive $100,000, a $50K increase from the previous years and $75K more than the losers.

Sure enough, the incentive won’t make the exhibition as intense as the NBA Finals, but it should at least motivate the players to play defence and be more focused on winning.
