Champions League: Can Inter Cope with The Yellow Wall?

Borussia Dortmund vs Inter Milan

There are few, if any, more impressive sights than the 25,000 strong Yellow Wall at the Signal Iduna Park in Dormund, and when Inter Milan arrive on Tuesday night for a Champions League clash, the Wall will be in full voice and splendour.

In probably the toughest group in the competition, Barcelona seem to be in control of Group F, which makes this a vital clash in the race for the second spot. Lucien Favre’s Borussia Dortmund sit in third on four points and behind I Nerazzurri on goal difference alone, so the bigger bonus to win is on the hosts. But Inter has become a tough side to beat under Antonio Conte, and with a serious attacking threat spearheaded by Romelu Lukaku the Italians will also fancy their chances.

This is a great match for SBOBET Champions League fans to get their teeth into, with the Germans slight favourites, but all three results are well in play.

Talking Points

Yellow Wall is as loud as ever

With six wins and two draws at home, in all competitions, the 80,000 crowd which packs the Signal Iduna Park is the 12th man for BVB, with the eye-catching and eardrum bursting support coming from the Yellow Wall.

They have had plenty to cheer about this season, watching their team invariably on the front foot and making chance after chance. Thorgan Hazard and Jadon Sancho are the top two assist makers in the Bundesliga, with six and five respectively. While young England star Sancho broke through last season, Hazard has been particularly impressive in his first year at the club, and he was on target in a comfortable 3-0 win over Wolfsburg on Saturday, which lifted BVB up to second in the table behind Borussia Monchengladbach.

Fellow newcomer Julian Brandt scored a brace as Dortmund recently beat the league leaders in the second round of the DFB Cup, 2-1, so confidence is as high as ever for BVB in front of their fans at the Signal Iduna Park.

The experienced Champions League campaigner, Marco Reus, is likely to start in an advanced position on Tuesday and he’ll get plenty of service from his two young wingers.

Lukaku in fine form

Since his summer switch from Manchester United, striker Romelu Lukaku has found a new lease of life under Antonio Conte at Inter Milan. He scored a dramatic late penalty in a 1-2 away win over Bologna at the weekend, and that was his ninth goal in the league. That’s some return after 11 games in Serie A, and only Lazio’s prolific striker Ciro Immobile has more with 12.

Inter’s perfect start to the Serie A season was halted by Juventus in their seventh match but Lukaku’s goals have fired them into second place in the league, just a point behind Juventus and six ahead of third placed Atalanta, before the Sunday kick-offs.

In one of the most pivotal Champions League 2019 results in the competition so far,

I Nerazzurri hauled themselves back into contention in Group F with a 2-0 win over Borussia Dortmund two weeks ago. Lautaro Martinez scored an early opener to settle the hosts’ nerves before Antonio Candreva added a second, and while the Germans dominated possession with 57 per cent of the ball, I Nerazzurri had more shots (eight to five) and more on target (four to two).

And that was the result which makes this clash so important.

History

Both clubs have strong pedigree in Europe. Inter have won Europe’s premier competition three times, twice in the 1960s and then again in 2010. Borussia won the Champions League in 1997 and reached the final again in 2013.

This is only the second meeting between these two teams so revenge will be on BVB’s minds, but Inter are unbeaten in five and have won the last three on their travels.

Betting Tip

??
Borussia Dortmund vs Inter Milan Inter Milan Asian Handicap +0.50 @ 1.92
November 6, 04:00 (GMT+8)

The pre-match BVB vs Inter Milan betting odds give the hosts the edge, at around even money to win. Borussia is at 2.00, the draw is 3.45 and Inter is 3.55.

The Yellow Wall will be deafening, but I suspect I Nerazzurri have the steel to deal with it, and if they can keep the hosts quiet for half an hour, they could take a grip on the game. In a tight match, either Lukaku or Reus could be the hero, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see both on the score sheet.

For an alternative bet, 2-3 goals is available at odds of 1.92, and the most likely score line of 1-1 at 6.20 also looks like a good price to me.

A SHORT EXPLANATION ON HOW OUR (??) BETS ARE WORTH:
