Germany’s Top Dogs are Up for an Intense Battle!

Last year’s runners-up RB Leipzig and defending champions Bayern Munich meet in this week’s Bundesliga in what is expected to be an all-out affair at Red Bull Arena.

As usual, Bayern Munich remain as the online betting favourites. They are currently running away with the title and a win here would see them one step closer to a repeat. However, with only eight football games left, sixth-placed Leipzig know they need to defy betting odds and get all three points to keep their European dreams alive.

WEEK 27 SATURDAY:

SC Freiburg vs VfB Stuttgart

This match has all the makings of a one-sided affair. Stuttgart have been in great form since Mario Gomez’ return to the club, and they remain unbeaten in five with wins against Gladbach and Frankfurt and a goalless draw with Leipzig.

Freiburg, in contrast, haven’t won in three. Oh, and they also lost to the Swabians 3-0 the last time they met!

Eintracht Frankfurt vs Mainz 05

It hasn’t been a good stretch for Frankfurt as they lost two of their last three games. Fortunately, they’ll be playing at home where they have won four straight matches. It should also help that they are facing the relegation-threatened Mainz who have been awful defensively this campaign.

Borussia Monchengladbach vs Hoffenheim

Hoffenheim are making a late bid for the European spots, but they need to shrug off their poor away form to keep the dream alive. Although the Sinsheimers will like their chances against a Gladbach side that has been on a downward spiral since the start of the new year, they still can’t afford to be overconfident considering their previous performance—a 1-3 defeat—against Dieter Hecking’s men.

Hamburger SV vs Hertha BSC

A run of 13 matches without a win, the latest a 6-0 demolition in the hands of Bayern Munich, won’t put Hamburg’s hopes up in this game (or even for the rest of the season). Sure enough, Hertha Berlin aren’t in a good run of form as well; but at least they know they have what it takes, having played a goalless draw with the Bavarians last month. With that said, pick Hertha 1×2 @ 2.85.

Augsburg vs Werder Bremen

Michael Gregoritsch’s return to his scoring ways couldn’t come at a better time for Augsburg as they now play Werder Bremen. The River Islander will pose a tough challenge, though they will be wary of Gregoritsch who bagged a double in their October battle at Weserstadion.

WEEK 27 SUNDAY:

VfL Wolfsburg vs Schalke 04

Winners of their last four, the Royal Blues are in great position to make it five. The Wolves just don’t look like a team capable of winning right now after losing five and drawing two in their last seven, all while conceding 13 goals during that stretch—that’s an average of almost two goals allowed per game! If you’re punting, Schalke -0.50 @ 2.21 is the best choice.

Borussia Dortmund vs Hannover 96

The first encounter between these two saw six goals and a great Hannover attacking performance. However, fans shouldn’t expect the same thing to happen with Hannover scoring just one goal as they lost three consecutive games. Meanwhile, Dortmund are still undefeated since Peter Stoger took over, and that’s unlikely to change at home.

FC Koln vs Bayer Leverkusen

Although Koln are capable of pulling off a surprise, they don’t have enough tools to beat a team eyeing for a top-three spot. They have the most goals allowed and rank as one of the worst offensive teams this season. To put the difference in quality into perspective, Bayer’s goal tally (47) is almost double of Koln’s (25).

WEEK 27 MONDAY:

RB Leipzig vs Bayern Munich

Leipzig’s chances of a European spot is at stake in this matchup, so fans can expect them to attack the strong Bayern wall.

It’s not looking good for them, though, as Bayern head into the match in higher spirits after comfortably securing their quarter-final spot in the Champions League. Coach Jupp Heynckes also became the first coach in UCL history to win 11 games in a row.

Surely, the Bavarians won’t allow the Bulls to ruin what has been a fantastic week for them.

I predict a high-scoring affair here, so go for Goals Over 3.25 @ 2.17.
