There are No Easy Football Games in the Premier League

The two Manchester clubs and Arsenal were the big winners on another great weekend of EPL football but despite betting odds being well in their favour, they all needed a huge slice of luck.

Meanwhile, West Brom bust some Premier League Betting coupons by earning an unlikely draw away to Spurs.

Huddersfield Town 1-2 Manchester City

Raheem Sterling grabbed a late winner for City, the ball bouncing in off his stomach after Gabriel Jesus’ effort had been blocked. The Terriers took a surprise lead when Christopher Schindler flicked on a cross which Nicolas Otamendi could only chest into his own goal. But City drew level quickly when Sterling won a penalty early in the second half which Sergio Aguero banged home.

Manchester United 1-0 Brighton & Hove Albion

Jose Mourinho was full of praise for the Seagulls, presumably because his team extended their home winning run. Chris Hughton’s side attacked the Red Devils fearlessly and were unlucky to go down when Lewis Dunk diverted an Ashley Young effort over his keeper and into the net.

Burnley 0-1 Arsenal

The Gunners had a last-minute win thanks to a penalty which Alexis Sanchez gratefully converted. In a well-contested match there wasn’t much to choose between the teams but Burnley came closest, Johann Berg Gudmundsson crashing the post before Sanchez coolly slotted home his only real chance.

Liverpool 1-1 Chelsea

Honours even at Anfield; and a draw was a fair result as these two heavyweights strained to keep in touch with the leaders. Mo Salah, who else, burst through to put the Reds in front. And they held out until Willian chipped deftly into the top corner from wide on the right. He claimed to have meant it but, I tell you, it was a cross.

Newcastle United 0-3 Watford

It’s four defeats on the bounce for Rafa Benitez’ Magpies after the excellent Hornets coasted to an impressive victory. Will Hughes is taking his chance, scoring in his second consecutive game and, after a DeAndre Yedlin own goal. Big summer signing Andre Gray made it three from close range.

Southampton 4-1 Everton

Charlie Austin scored a brace as Southampton put in a four star performance against hapless Everton. Gylfi Siggurdson hit a screamer to equalise Dusan Tadic’s well-worked opener but the Saints ran riot in the second half.

Swansea City 0-0 Bournemouth

More pressure on Paul Clement as he watched his team fail to register a home win against a rapidly improving Bournemouth. You rarely get the breaks when you’re down and the Swans could feel hard done to when Wilfried Bony’s first half strike was harshly ruled out as players jostled for position.

Crystal Palace 2-1 Stoke City

A late, late winner courtesy by Mamadou Sakho grabbed the Eagles a crucial three points, and dragged them up into the relegation fight. Xherdan Shaqiri put Stoke ahead but England star Ruben Loftus-Cheek tapped in the equaliser. Palace are now only three points from 17th while the Potters are just three above the drop.

West Ham United 1-1 Leicester City

The Hammers have found some fight at last as David Moyes seems to have made some impression already. It looked like the same old story when Marc Albrighton took advantage of sloppy defending to put the Foxes ahead, but West Ham fought hard and deserved Cheik Kouyate’s equaliser.
