Premier League: Kane Will Relish His Second Chance With Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur vs Watford

Spurs supporters are feeling good about themselves when Harry Kane confirmed that he’ll stay with the club for the meantime, and all eyes are going to be on the Premier League star when his Tottenham host Watford this weekend at their home ground.

Tottenham are off to a flying start in their 2021/22 campaign with back-to-back wins, and this piece of news couldn’t come at a better time as they’ll look to continue to press forward under their new manager.

Their visitors in Watford, meanwhile, have split their first two fixtures with a victory and a defeat. The new kids on the block are eager to gather more points in order to avoid being at a precarious position in the table towards the end of this season.

Two grizzled tacticians in Nuno Espirito Santo and Xisco Munoz are set for a chess match and we won’t be surprised if both teams will churn out numerous Premier League 2021 highlights.

Let’s discuss how these teams stack up through this latest match preview from SBOTOP.

Talking Points

Harry Kane to run it back with Tottenham

Harry Kane quickly reminded his fans why he’s so important to Tottenham as he led them to their recent Europa Conference League win against Primeira Liga side Pacos de Ferreira.

The 28-year-old striker got into the scoresheet in just under 10 minutes, eventually completing a brace en route to a 3-0 victory.

With speculation surrounding the English captain during these past few weeks, Kane’s renewed commitment has been a boon for the Spurs who are trying to get back to Champions League football soon.

He was tipped to join Manchester City for a fee north of £120-M, but the negotiations stalled since time wasn’t on the Sky Blues’ side.

Now that he’s ready to spearhead the charge for the Spurs, Harry Kane will link up once more with Heung-Min Son for more goals.

Son led the line for Tottenham in recent weeks and having his partner in crime back should ease the offencive burden on his shoulders.

It’s going to be just like old times for the Spurs and the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium will be rocking come Sunday.

Watford’s defence is suspect

The Hornets have to make this game ugly for the Spurs if they’d want to secure a point in this Sunday’s contest.

After winning over Aston Villa in a five-goal thriller during the first matchday, the Hornets were blown away by the Seagulls through quickfire goals in the first half.

Xisco Munoz’s men were sloppy in possession right from the get-go, which led Brighton to their best-ever Premier League start.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s Tottenham squad appear superior over Watford in highly-anticipated Premier League match
Tottenham manager Nuno Espirito Santo coaches from the sidelines during match against Wolves at Molineux Stadium.

Brighton defender Shane Duffy took advantage of Watford’s vulnerability in the air and he was able to head the ball home after a corner kick from Pascal Gross.

Towards the end of the first half, Neal Maupay doubled their lead when he finished strong after a lovely pass from Yves Bissouma, who caught Watford’s defence sleeping.

Watford have yet to keep a clean sheet this term, which suggests that they may need to slightly alter their gameplan.

Manager Xisco Munoz will stick to his back four of William Troost-Ekong, Craig Cathcart, Christian Kabasele, and Adam Masina, hoping that they can keep up against the pacey forwards of Tottenham.

History

Tottenham are clearly the superior team over Watford especially when looking at their head-to-heads.

The Spurs have lost just one of their last 16 Premier League games against Watford, with their last defeat dating back to September 2018.

The Hornets have had trouble at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as they’ve lost nine of their last 10 visits there since winning three straight back then from 1982 to 1985.

Moreover, Tottenham love to beat up the newly-promoted sides at home since they’ve only lost once in their last 27 fixtures, with the lone defeat coming against current boss Nuno Espirito Santo’s Wolves back in December 2018.

Should Tottenham win here, they’ll open their Premier League campaign with a three-game win streak for the third time ever in the last 13 seasons.

Betting Tip

??
Tottenham Hotspur vs Watford Tottenham Asian Handicap -1.00 @ 1.74
August 29, 21:00 (GMT+8)

The Premier League 2021 odds expect the Spurs to win comfortably at their home pitch this weekend.

Tottenham are installed as the favourites at 1.42, while Watford are pegged at 8.25 and a  draw is at 4.10 in the 1X2 market.

Prior to Kane’s recent announcement, Tottenham have already proven themselves to be a dangerous group and they are about to get even better with the England star back in the fold.

With momentum and history on their side, anything but a Spurs victory is going to be considered as a shock.
