Brilliant Barcelona gave Alaves a 6-0 mauling on their home ground, which was great fun for mobile betting action but not one bit for the hosts.
Maybe Alaves had just stopped celebrating their Copa semi-final win when Barca rolled into town, but they had a rude awakening by the team they are due to meet in the big final.
Alaves 0-6 Barcelona
Betting odds on Barcelona lifting the Copa may well adjust after they gave their fellow finalists a proper football education. 0-0 draw specialists Alaves conceded four goals in eight minutes. Luis Suarez (twice), Leo Messi, Neymar and Ivan Rakitic were all on target, as was Alaves’ Alexis, unfortunately for home fans in the wrong end!
Osasuna 1-3 Real Madrid
Los Blancos stay top, but it wasn’t as easy as expected at El Sadar where the bottom club put up a good fight. Osasuna’s Sergio Leon brilliantly equalised Cristiano Ronaldo’s opener, but goals from Isco and Lucas Vasquez saw Real Madrid over the
line and still on course.
Las Palmas 0-1 Sevilla
Sevilla stays just two points behind Barca after being the first team to come away from the Canary Islands with three points this season. Having taken only one point from the last two games, it looked like another draw for Sevilla until Joaquin Correa popped up on 80 minutes to snatch the points.
Atletico Madrid 3-2 Celta Vigo
Two late strikes by Yannick Carrasco and Antoine Griezmann gave Atletico a dramatic win to lift them back up to fourth in the table. Fernando Torres’ spectacular overhead kick equalised Gustavo Cabral’s opener for the hosts. John Guidetti restored Celta’s lead until Carrasco and Griezmann’s late show.
Espanyol 1-2 Real Sociedad
Sociedad had briefly gone fourth on Saturday after Asier Illarramendi scored a cracking winner to end a short run of two consecutive away defeats. Carlos Vela had put the visitors in front, but the lead was short-lived as Hernan Perez tormented the Sociedad defence before slotting home. But it was Real’s night.
Villarreal 1-1 Malaga
The Yellow Submarine have dropped to six points behind the top four after a disappointing home draw to Malaga, but the hosts had to fight back after Charles gave the visitors a surprise first-half lead. Bruno Soriano grabbed a share of the points from the penalty spot.
Athletic Club 2-1 Deportivo la Coruna
On-form striker Aritz Aduriz scored a late, late winner after Athletic Club fought back from a goal down when Emre Colak put the visitors in front before the break. Iker Muniain drew the hosts level before Aduriz stole all three points on 89 minutes.
Real Betis 0-0 Valencia
Stalemate at the Estadio Benito Villamarin where a point was a better result for Valencia than Victor Sanchez’ Real Betis. The hosts did everything but score, Ruben Castro hitting the woodwork, but had to settle for a point.
Leganes 0-2 Sporting Gijon
This was a huge win for Sporting as they kept their survival hopes well and truly alive, climbing to within two points of 17th-placed Leganes; but it’s squeaky bum time for the Madrid minnows who now have a real battle on their hands.
Eibar 4-0 Granada
On Tuesday, Eibar made it three wins on the bounce with a resounding win. Adrian Gonzalez hit an 11th-minute penalty to put the hosts ahead and Eibar’s chief predator, Sergi Enrich, doubled the lead on 39 minutes. Ivan Ramis and Pedro Leon finished the job to boost Eibar’s European hopes and keep Granada in deep trouble.
